Prelim: Research Rationale


For my market research which I have already began to have started since evaluating different magazine forms and conventions , I will attempt to further my understanding using online media platforms really focusing on the level of detail each magazine has added to ensure that their target audience is attracted to the piece . This will then allow me to be able to understand how each magazine appeals to their audience permitting me to conduct that same level of detail making sure that my audience is attracted to my fashion magazine there increasing its potential product value.
The research I aim to conduct for my audience shall be to distribute surveys I have made for students within that audience range. The surveys would first be able to tell me who this person is so we have categories to an extent, of certain types of people and what they find interesting hence having a clear ideas as to what to include in my magazine so it can be intriguing to a wide variety of people within those years . This would also allow to see how I can expand on any ideas I may already have showing me what way to present that. I would also conduct filmed group interviews which would allow me to grasp a mass amount of information from each group not only advancing my understanding of the genre but also making me able to use those ideas of what the audience wants in my fashion magazine and contents page.

As I am currently doing my GCSE’s at the recent age of 15 I am able to use my higher education to ask questions to my fellow peers for their personal opinions regarding fashion magazines. This therefore allows me to relate to my audience then using their input to further my fashion magazine . My target is the age of 14 to 18 so I am therefore able to conducts interviews, surveys and focus groups from students in year 9 upwards capping it at year 13's.
